In the framework of the 11th EASN International Conference, which will take place 01- 04 September 2021 in Salerno, Italy, Dr. Angelos Filippatos from TU Dresden, Co-Leader of the Subgroup 2: Composites, of the WG4 “Sensing Applications & Smart Sensors Development”, organizes a session entitled “Multi-material design and function integration of advanced sensors and actuators in composites”.
New materials and processes expand the design capabilities of multi-material structures, especially of composite structures. Research in the area of multi-material design and function-integration of composite materials with material-inherent sensing as well as actuating properties becomes of great interest to aerospace community. Several tools and techniques for function-integration, based on the latest trends in carbon-based nanomaterials CNMs, micro- and nanotechnologies are offering new opportunities for the development of composites with sensing and actuating properties.
The aim of the session is to discuss new challenges for the deployment of new sensors in the aerospace on the example of selected contributions. In particular, the subjects include but are not limited to:
- Progress on advanced sensing applications
- Simulation of sensor – actuator integration
- Structural assessment methods based on novel material-integrated sensors and actuators
Deadline of abstract submission: 31st May 2021
It will be a great chance for our EsSENce network to have an important presence in EASN Conference and organise an extended WG4 Meeting!
